Michael Rivers

Divorce & Family Law Attorney

University of Dayton School of Law, Dayton, Ohio Juris Doctorate
State University of New York at Buffalo: B.S. Accounting and Financial Analysis cum laude

A dedicated, veteran divorce lawyer, Michael Rivers has a varied background that gives him a unique legal perspective among local attorneys. He’s a staunch advocate and a valuable resource for clients in the Western Washington area in divorce, custody, and other family law cases.

With decades of practice, Michael has the experience to handle anything a case throws at him. His extensive practice has allowed him to hone his skills in all areas and to develop a deep understanding of the court process. Adept in dispute resolution and mediation, he has a wide-ranging track record in trial and is equally comfortable in a conference room as in the courtroom.

“With family law, I can help clients invest in their futures through an incredibly stressful time in their lives,” Michael says. “This can be from using my legal background to steer them away from erroneous or even outright detrimental advice they might receive from well-intended family or friends. It can be from using my financial background to help them retain assets so they can make it through the divorce process and have the tools to move to the next phase in their lives. It can be using my experience to help them navigate the unexpected dynamic of shared parenting to see that their children are only minimally impacted by divorce. Family law truly provides a way to help clients prepare for all aspects of their lives.”

Michael dual majored in accounting and financial analysis at the State University of New York at Buffalo, where he graduated cum laude. From there, he embarked on his legal journey and earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Dayton Law School of Law.

When not fighting for the rights of his clients, Michael can typically be found making repairs and upgrades to his “new” old house, traveling with his fiancée, cooking and baking, and working on his golf game.
